Early during the fall sports season, varsity volleyball members gathered around their team’s whiteboard. Their task was to come up with a list of goals for the season and write them on the board.

“We keep our goals and our team rules on this big white board we use at practice every day,” junior Cassidy Curtis said. “We see the list before every game and tournament and it gets us ready to strive for each goal on the list.”

Something the girls wanted to achieve was to win the Flint Metro League Championship which means going undefeated against all the Metro teams. On Sept. 16, they completed the first step of their goal by beating the Swartz Creek Dragons.

“We won all three  matches right away against Swartz Creek,” junior Myla Wolosonowich said. “We played as a team and our defense was moving fast to get every ball which led us to winning so quickly.”

Captain Carly Granger led the team in kills.

“When our team is playing the game and staying loud, we get on runs to win the game,” Granger said. “ I get excited when I get a good kill and it pumps the rest of the team up too.”

On Sept. 23, the team will have to beat Brandon to maintain their goals. The game is home at 7 p.m.
