At the talent show Oct. 3, seven contestants sang, three danced, and a variety of different acts were performed by three others. In the end, the judges gave senior Cord Alvarado first place, sophomores Chapin Kartsounes and Savannah Moore second, and senior Colin Hodgkin third.

“I didn’t think going in I would win,” Alvarado said. “I made the magic routine because I wanted the show to have variety. Everyone sings, I wanted to do something different. So I decided I was going to do magic!”

Even though the winning act had no music, second place winners Chapin Kartsounes and Savannah Moore, along with third place winner Colin Hodgkin did sing. Moore played the piano and sang with Kartsounes to “Say Something,” and Hodgkin played three instruments and sang “Wake Me Up.”

“The crowd reacted great,” Kartsounes said. “Going in, I didn’t think we would win, there was a lot of great acts and we were really surprised to get second place. This is our second year taking second place at the talent show and we are working for first next year.”
