Thursday, Dec. 18, four chorus groups began their holiday concert by taking the stage to sing “Star to Follow” for the audience. Following the opener was the first individual group to perform, Varsity Vocals.

“Varsity Vocals sang three songs altogether; they were ‘Sing, Ye, Merrily,’ ‘Alleluia Noel,’ and ‘Fum Fum Fantasy,’” sophomore Andrew Martin said. “Out of those three songs, my favorite was ‘Fum Fum Fantasy’ because it was the most challenging song for us, as a group, but it was also the most fun to perform.”

Following Varsity Vocals was Bella Voce, an all girls choir group. They sang five songs altogether: “Throw Open Your Shutters,” “Carol of the Bells,” “I’d Rather Have My Baby,” “The Holly and the Ivy,” and “My Favorite Things.”

“Out of all the songs Bella Voce sang, my favorite song was ‘My Favorite Things,’” freshman McKenzie Lookebell said. “I’ve known how to sing it since I was younger, so it is a personal favorite of mine.”

There were two soloists within the concert: Chapin Kartsounes in “I’d Rather Have My Baby,” and Brianna Matilla in “The Holly and the Ivy.”

After Bellas Voce’s performance, all chorus groups came into the auditorium and participated with the audience in “The 12 Days of Christmas” which made the concert more enjoyable for the audience. Chorus, a beginners choir class, performed shortly after.

“The Chorus sang three songs, and one of them, ‘A Christmas Wish,’ was my favorite,” junior Erin Wiley said. “I really like the meaning behind the lyrics of the song and we, as a group, also sang it really well.”

The other songs Chorus sang included “Pause for the Claus” and “Sending You a Little Christmas” to end the their group performance. The final song included two soloists, Felicia Lee and Logan Landis.

“I really liked singing ‘Let it Go’ at the beginning of our performance,” freshman Kelly Canning said. “It was my favorite song to sing because it was a song that everyone knew and it was also really fun to perform.”

The other songs that were performed by the Ambassadors included “Silver Bells” and “Deck the Halls” with the latter including a rhythmic twist of a ⅞ time signature. Concluding their performance they sang “This Christmas.”

“I really liked when all the chorus groups performed together as one group,” Canning said. “Overall, I enjoyed performing the concert and it was such a fun experience for me.”

At the end of the concert, all chorus group came out for one last time and performed “Silent Night” in German and in English, and sang as the audience hummed along with them.
