As the end of the school year draws near, so does the final dance. This year’s prom will be held on May 2, and the committee has been working hard to make for a successful end of the year formal.

“The prom committee is made up of juniors, as it always is,” junior Samantha Gehm said. “Our class sponsors, Mrs. Kotarak and Mrs. Cubr, are in charge of leading the meetings that are held twice a month.”

This year’s theme is “A Night Under the Stars” and incorporates many dark purple and silver decorations. Instead of being held at Genesys Athletic Club as it has been in the past, the venue this year is Lyon Oaks Golf Club in South Lyon.

“I really like the venue for prom this year,” Gehm said. “The view is very pretty, and although it is farther away than Genesys, I think the appearance makes up for it.”

The dance will have a photo booth and candy bar as it did last year, and the sit down dinner features a chicken course and roasted vegetables. For a “late night snack,” a pizza bar will be available as well as cheese and crackers for an appetizer.

“I’m hoping the dance will be as successful as it was last year,” Gehm said. “I think it will be because the food is supposed to be really good and the venue is beautiful.”
