Skiing into the finish, junior Parker Bundy feels the adrenaline rushing as he realizes that he just completed his first race at States for Giant Slalom skiing. Bundy was the only skier from the Fenton-Linden ski team to qualify for the state meet. After placing 10th at Regionals, Bundy went on to states at Boyne Mountain on February 26.

“I was very nervous,” Bundy said. “I knew I had tough competition and I knew I had to ski well. My two coaches and I had skied the previous two days on the hill, so I knew what I was getting myself into.”

After getting in some training time on the hill, Bundy went on to ski in the competition the following day. Completing his runs Bundy finished his first run with a time of 36.55 and his second run with a 36.22, resulting in a combined time 72.77.

“I skied okay,” Bundy said. “I made two runs and I didn’t fall which was good but the competition was tough and I didn’t quite do as I would’ve liked. I ended up placing 25th in GS.”

With the ski season at its end, Bundy plans to begin training for next years season.

“I’m going to go to Colorado to train,” Bundy said. “I am going to exercise and workout to become stronger in my legs for next season.”
