Senior Bailey Gauss holds still as he gets his blood drawn.

Hosted by the Red Cross and National Honors Society, the Fenton High School blood drive took place on October 15th and collected a total 58 pints of blood. In addition, this year the local restaurant Culver’s also participated, offering the participating students a pint of ice cream per pint given.

“I remember there being lots of people,” said senior Landon Mikulenas, “There were so many participants some had to be canceled.”

More than 20 percent of donations the Red Cross receives are from high school and college blood drives. Each pint of blood collected can be used in up to three transfusions, saving victims of car crashes, workplace accidents, and other misfortunes.

“The Blood Drive is a great cause,” said senior Brant Cassidy, “I think it’s cool that we can give back and help others.”
