“If I could go back in time I would go to the 1960s. In my opinion, that was the best era for music. Artists like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr changed the world of music. Their soft lyrics and Vegas aura were unique and never seen before. These artists are laced with your family: my mother grew up listening to them and therefore I grew up listening to them and appreciating the beauty and diversity behind their works. Listening to these artists is one avenue my family bonds over. I have 75 albums total of old music and a turntable with speaker and amplifier. Coming home from a stressful day and just being able to put an album on the player always calms me down.” - senior Jaden Lainesse

“I started acting in the third grade after my brother asked me to be a gosling in the FHS Theatre Departments production of Charlottes Web. From then on I was hooked and I was in at least one production a year since then. My favorite production so far would be Columbinus because we tackled such a pressing issue and that was my first time being in a large acting position.” - senior Joe Fleck

“We are hanging up marigolds for our spanish class. We watched the movie CoCo because we are learning about the Day of the dead. The flowers represent what families used to put on the graves, also known as the ofrendas, that would supposedly allow them to cross over to the land of the dead to see their dead family members. This concept is interesting to me because we don’t do anything like that in American culture besides funerals.” - freshman Isaiah Plumley

“If I could give my younger self advice, I would tell him to not be afraid to try new things. You could try something and love it and make it your passion. Don’t be afraid to fail because you learn from every experience and grow as a person. I was always scared to try new sports because I didn’t want to get laughed at for not being as good as everyone else. Now as I have grown up, I regret not joining different teams or clubs because that could have been an amazing experience in my life.”

“I started to get interested in RC cars in eighth grade and that pulled me into mechanics. I started to realize a lot of what I applied to fixing the little cars was the same on the big ones, with a large price difference of course, but I started to like off road capabilities on the radio control. It pulled me into the off-road world, which wouldn’t be as big as it is without Jeeps, and so I just kinda fell in love with Jeeps. I do a lot of off-roading; it’s fun to test what you’ve made. You don’t spend a bunch of time building a kite to never fly it, you put hours into wrenching on the jeep and see what it can do on the trails.”
