The girls track team finishes strong at their first invitational of the season
On Thursday March 20 the girls varsity track team left school early and traveled all the way to Grand Valley State University to compete in the first invitational of the year.
“I thought we did great for our first invitational of the season,” sophomore Nina Lombardi said. “We have a strong team this year and I think we will do very well this season and hopefully win the metro league.”
This years track team has strong runners that are ready to break records for the upcoming season and continue with their hard work from the off season workouts.
“I ran the 60 yard dash and placed eighth, long jumped and placed second and ran the 200 and placed second,” senior Kayla Stiles said. “I trained a lot in the off season because I want our team to go far, our team is pretty close and we have a good chance at winning districts this year so we have something to work for.”
Upcoming meets are Wednesday, March 26 at Central University and Saturday, March 29 at Lake Fenton.
