The girls track team competes in the CMU invitational
The girls varsity track team took a two hour bus ride to Central Michigan University on Wednesday March 26 for their second invitational of the season.
“The bus ride was long and we got home at one in the morning,” sophomore Hailey Tallman said. “It was worth it though, our team did great overall and I jumped a new PR in high jump.”
The ride there and back was about two and a half hours and even though the girls got home late the experience of another invitational at a college will prepare them for when the official meets start.
“I ran the 4×800 and 4×400 relays,” freshman Jenna Keiser said. “We are improving but it is still the beginning of the season and I hope to get faster times at every meet.”
The difference between an invitational and a regular meet is that in an invitational, the college or school holding it invites the good teams from around the area and a meet is against another school in the metro league.
“Teams are looked at as whole by colleges and then they are invited to invitationals,” junior Liria Dedivanaj said. “They are a lot more competitive than other schools that we normally run against in the regular league meets.”
The track team has a scrimmage meet against Goodrich on Thursday April 3.
