If The Boot Fits, Wear It

A help for students in troubled times

While some students can afford to shop at name brand stores such as Nordstrom, Hollister and Buckle, others can’t afford to pay top dollar. In order to help those students in need, life skills teacher Tracy Skene created the Clothes Closet, the program is completely anonymous, and is also free of  charge.

“I wanted to help students who don’t have certain resources at their fingertips.” Skene said. “Students can get everyday clothes or clothes for a job or interview.”

Students who would like to donate can drop clothes off at the main office. Clothes should be in good condition, which means no rips or holes in them. They should look like something any high schooler would wear. This program is only geared toward high schoolers. The donations should consist of clothes for people in high school.

Students who cannot donate clothes can donate gift cards. Gift cards to Target and Wal-Mart allows the school to go out and buy clothes.

“If people want to donate new stuff or even gift cards, we can go out and get packages of new stuff,” Skene said. “Stuff like underwear or socks, things that students would not want to re-wear.”

Students who would like more information or who want to donate can talk to the office or to Mrs. Skene.
