Life can be very different for a freshman versus a senior. Many freshmen have less “freedom” since they are younger and also have to get used to the school culture, clubs and trying to get involved in new things. According to collegeexpress.com, seniors tend to be more mature then freshman and also get used to more work at a higher level.
“You’re new to everything and you don’t know what to do and where to go,” freshman Adriana Abuita said. “ because it is also a new school it makes it a lot harder and bigger to find our classes.”
Even though life as a freshman can be tough, in the end it usually all evens out. Even though freshmen aren’t used to being in such a big school, they are still able to adapt to a bigger school environment around them. Freshman also might have a harder time with new classes and guidelines, but most are able to get used to the new expectations and settle in.
“When I was a freshman it was pretty hard to know what to do. There was a lot of options and opportunities with sports and clubs. And I felt like I didn’t do anything because there were so many different options,” senior Ian Mills said. “But as a senior I was able to narrow it all down and pick what I wanted to do.”
Being a senior can also be stressful especially with college applications. Overall being a freshman or senior can be challenging. It all really just depends on how how people spend their time.
“I also feel like seniors have more freedom,” Mills said, “and if you are able to do well your freshman year with grades then it will help you with the classes you take later on.”
Even though freshman can have a hard time in classes and getting used to high school, seniors can also have problems with picking colleges and what they want to do in the future. So looking at it from the big picture, both freshman and seniors have to make hard decisions and learn how to work things out in school.
