Students tell their babysitting horror stories

Senior Dow Kaenpracha

“I was babysitting these two boys, the oldest is seven, and the youngest had just turned three. The older brother and I were watching a movie on the couch, and all of the sudden I started smelling this horrendous crap smell. The younger brother is potty trained, but he was sitting in a corner crying, while playing his Legos. Then he stood up and had diarrhea all over his legs, still crying. So me being the great babysitter that I am, had to clean all of that up and shower him. It was really bad.”

Junior Ellie Koester

“One kid I babysit never goes to bed on time. Even when I put her to sleep she comes back out. Because she’s never asleep when her parents come home, her parents get mad at me. She also watches really strange movies, like informational, discovery movies that her parents make her watch. They’re extremely weird and definitely not kid-like.”

Junior Regina Pauly

“Once I was babysitting a brother and sister, and everything was fine until their parents left. When they left they started jumping on my back, pulling my hair, biting my arms and kicking at my legs. I ended up having to hide in the bathroom. I didn’t call the parents though, I had to wait until they got home.”

Freshman Mary O’Rourke

“I was babysitting two brothers, and I brought my brother along with me. The younger boy, he has some anger issues. Everytime I said something he didn’t like, he and the others boys would find the highest point of the house, and scream that he’s the Lorax and that he speaks for the trees.”

Junior Colin Brawner

“I babysit my siblings a lot for my parents, and my brother in particular can be difficult. He was 5 years old at the time and my parents were going to be gone all day. The day was fine but when it got to be time for bed he went crazy. He broke 2 glass bottles on accident but then teepeed the inside of our house when I wasn’t around. There was no stopping him anyways.”
