“We are hanging up marigolds for our spanish class. We watched the movie CoCo because we are learning about the Day of the dead. The flowers represent what families used to put on the graves, also known as the ofrendas, that would supposedly allow them to cross over to the land of the dead to see their dead family members. This concept is interesting to me because we don’t do anything like that in American culture besides funerals.” – freshman Isaiah Plumley
