As the holiday season approaches, the members of the FHS E.C.O. Club are giving back to the community. Once again, this Christmas, the club has adopted an Angel Tree Child to spread holiday cheer.
According to saangletree.org, the Salvation Army Tree Program provides Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children from all over the country. Items like toys and clothing are purchased and delivered to a financially struggling family. The gifts are wrapped and put under the Christmas tree for the child to open. This program makes the holiday season easier for struggling families.
“The club does this because we feel the school gives back to both mother nature and our club by using recycling bins,” E.C.O. Club Nicholaus Jeffrey said, “therefore, we want to give back to the Fenton community.”
The E.C.O. Club is able to do this with the money collected from returning the cans FHS students and staff recycle.
“We adopt an Angel Tree child every year to make sure we are using our resources to give back to the community as much as possible,” E.C.O. Club president Ian Mills said. “It’s a great feeling to know we are helping someone have the Christmas they deserve.”
The E.C.O. Club will continue to volunteer and support the Fenton community in the new year.
