Society has changed for the worse, technology is the one to blame
January 20, 2015
Technology plays a huge role in the way society is viewed today. Research shows that technology is leaving a negative impact on society. If you look at what our parents say they did when they were teenagers, they would say they actually spent time outside, they actually verbally spoke with their friends and family members, they did not have cell phones and the technology that is currently available.
If you look back on your own life, you can say that you did just about the same thing when you were younger. Now that we are becoming young adults living in the era of technology, it seems that technology itself has taken over most of our daily activities. What we do now is very different. When I look at everyone around me, they’re checking their social media, watching Netflix, or playing some stupid video game on their smartphone when they could be doing something more beneficial. When you look at children today, they will never know what it’s like to live in a technology free world because they were born into a world full of high tech devices.
As human beings we have caused these changes in society. I see how the media is making an impact on the people today. Studies show that children spend more time on the Internet, doing pointless things or in front of a TV than they do sitting inside a classroom at school. It also reveals that people spend much less time talking and socializing outside of the home, getting involved in athletics and clubs, even doing simple household tasks. The way I see it, people of varying ages will slowly become socially awkward because of the lack of interaction they are getting from all of the technology and media in this world in which we live.
I don’t really like the changesand I am willing to make an effort to counteract them. I will actually call one of my friends if I would like to hang out with them instead of texting. I will spend some of my free time offline and away from the social media so I can still be able to know what it’s like to live without them. I am not allowing the changes of society to affect me in those ways. These changes are mostly negative and will eventually make our society much worse than what it is today.
