Seniors present themselves in Two Minute Me

A precursor to the Senior Exit presentation that takes place second semester, the Two Minute Me presentation is a way to help 12th graders prepare for one of their last projects as students at FHS.

“We work on different presentation skills,” Manville said, “Eye contact, projecting your voice, the structure of your presentation, things like that. The seniors describe themselves or a skill they could demonstrate for two minutes and it helps them prepare for the Senior Exit presentation.”

Several students have already participated in the presentation, including senior Logan Palmer.

“Basically,” Palmer said, “You have to talk about yourself and any special skills you may have. I talked about how everything in life so far has impacted me.”

The Two Minute Me has been tasked to the English department as an alternative for a public speaking elective the school used to offer. One of the main criteria for the grade seniors receive at the end of their presentation is based on their audience.

“On the spit oral critique us a big part of the project,” Manville said. “If the audience could figure out the main idea of the presentation, then the presentation and the presentation skills were good.”

Though there is an importance placed on the Two Minute Me, the project in itself is not worth much in terms of points and final grades.

“It’s not a major project,” Palmer said. “It’s kind of a warm up for the second semester. I think it’s good. It builds confidence in presentation skills and helps prepare you for the Senior Exit.”
