With events such as spring break, prom and graduation just around the corner, many FHS students want to look tan during this time of year. There are several ways to keep your skin looking bronzed that do not involve a trip to a tropical destination. Some of the most common ways to achieve this include tanning beds, self-tanning products and spray tans.
Self-tanning and spray tans are a quick ways to get bronzed overnight and a good option if you are in a time crunch; however, many self-tanning products fade off your skin in about a week and often appear uneven or splotchy. Tanning beds do take longer to develop a tan, but that’s because you are being exposed to ultraviolet rays (UV) just like you would be if you were to be laying out in the sun. Therefore, tanning beds are the best option to stay tan throughout the year.
Many find tanned skin visually appealing and believe it enhances their appearance. Aside from making your skin look darker and boosting confidence, tanning beds can also reduce acne and other skin conditions.
Not only do tanning beds improve your appearance, it is shown that they have several health benefits as well. According to The National Library of Medicine, exposure to sunlight or UV rays boost your mood and energy levels. This increases your brain’s level of serotonin, which is a neurotransmitter that makes you feel relaxed and contributes to one’s well-being.
Overall, tanning beds have several benefits and are the best way to stay tan during the off-season and prepare your skin for big events.
