While most students were sitting in school, the Titanium Tigers were at their first competition at Howell Middle School after six weeks of completing their robot.

“We ended up tying for 6th overall, which was pretty good for us given the circumstances that we had along the way,” robotics leader Andrew Cocagne said. “There were 40 teams there, each team having 20 to 50 people.”

The robot had to go through a series of tasks in order to gain points. These points would then determine their placing.

“Our robot did tasks like stacking totes and filling recycling bins,” sophomore Kenton Kline said. “I think we did alright at the competition, although we didn’t win any awards, it was still fun and I can’t wait for the next competition.”

The Titanium Tigers had the opportunity to win awards for the robot that they had at the competition.

“Some of these included awards for safety features and technology used in the robot,” Cocagne said. “We didn’t win any at this competition, but I’m hoping that we can win an award or two at the next competition; if that happens, then we can be eligible to qualify for states.”

The Titanium Tiger’s next competition is March 27 and 28 at Livonia High School.
