As the main gym was filled with over 500 people, freshman, JV, and varsity volleyball teams won against the neighboring town of Linden on Oct 27. Varsity volleyball won the Flint Metro League champions title after being undefeated in the Metro league and receiving the title back after losing it to Flushing High School last year.

The varsity team won three out of four matches; they won the first two matches with scores of 25-19 the first game and 25-17 the second game. They lost the third match with a score of 22-25, and they won the fourth match with a score of 25-16.

“Both teams were exceptionally strong throughout all the matches,” athletic director Mike Bakker said. “But we were able to come out strong in the fourth match to win it all, and gain back the Metro title.”

JV volleyball won two out of the three matches against Linden, where all games had very close scores.

“All three games were intense, and the third game was the longest of all three,” sophomore Skylar Mathews said. “We just kept volleying back and forth in the last game; but we won the game with a close score of 25-23.”

The freshman girls sweeped Linden by winning all three matches against them.

“They started off very strong because the first match was tied for a short time,” freshman Reagan Wilson said. “Linden had good serves and fair competition, but they were unable to compete in the end.”

As a celebration to the last league game of the season, all players celebrated through parent night and senior night. All players were announced by their coach and the players gave flowers to their parents. The seniors were acknowledged for their accomplishments in their volleyball careers.
