Southern inspired, Mid-West bound: Northern Country Chic plants root’s in Fenton
March 30, 2016
Driving through downtown, residents and visitors first see a multitude of stores with signs and posters plastered with varying audacity and size. People all over and out of town come and go to buy products ranging from reading books to candy sweets. While many stores have passed the test of time, other stores are newly popping up in the place of former ones. One of these stores, Northern Country Chic, will be the latest addition to the plethora of shopping outlets lining the street.
Selling products ranging from western-style clothing to furniture paints, Northern Country Chic will be a never seen before store for downtown Fenton. Specializing in country styled clothing, store founder Kimberly Lenoir is aiming for mid-April to open shop at 409 South Leroy Street on the renovated strip where Round Town Cupcakes once stood. Additionally, wedding and party gifts will be sold as well as other small items. Country clothing like boots and jackets, sports jerseys and other items are planned to be sold.
“I did a lot of research when it came to the perfect location,” Lenoir said. “Fenton is a growing and thriving city that has so much potential and success. When I imagined my boutique, I pictured it being in the heart of a small historic hometown. Furthermore, I’m a local Fenton resident myself and I love supporting all the small stores and restaurants within the area. There’s no doubt in my mind Fenton is a strong business community and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Northern Country Chic.”
Being one of the only clothing and gift stores downtown, a wide variety of exclusive items will be sold. Mainly focusing on selling women’s clothing ranging from cowgirl boots to floral leggings, Northern Country Chic aims to help you channel your inner country girl. Southern, celebrity endorsed clothing lines from the likes of country singer Ali Dee and Sadie Robertson from Duck Dynasty will be available to purchase. Other items like jewelry and leather belts will also be on the shelves.
“I have always had the urge to be an entrepreneur,” Lenoir said. “Even throughout high school I knew I wanted to own a business and be my own boss someday. My idea for Northern Country Chic was simply inspired by having a very strong passion for both business and fashion.”
Numerous boutiques around the country were examined to come up with the design and final product of Northern Country Chic. Since most of those stores were southern, decorations like cow skulls and rough, wooden floors and walls will be prevalent throughout the boutique. Lenoir, having a degree in business marketing, thought extensively on how to a successful boutique.
In anticipation of opening, Lenoir maintains various social media to promote the store. Like their Facebook page for the latest news on the store. Additionally, visit the website for further information and a sneak peak of the store’s items. An Instagram account will be posted soon as well.
