Fenton businesses pass out candy in ‘An Event So Good It’s Scary’

Halloween is alive and well in the city of Fenton, with 40-50 of its downtown businesses participating in festivities such as working in-costume and passing out candy to their customers.

“We always do our event on Halloween unless it lands on a Saturday or Sunday, then we have our event on the Friday before the 31st,” Executive Director of the Fenton Chamber of Commerce Shelly Day said. “Any member that wants to participate is welcome and we have members from all three counties, Genesee, Livingston and Oakland.”

Because Fenton is a part of Genesee County, the businesses downtown will be participating in this event. Other businesses in towns like Linden and Holly are also joining in on the fun.

“Being a downtown business, it is very important to us to be involved with the community and especially our children’s lives,” Salon 416 manager Angie Wynn said. “We will celebrate by sharing candy with the trick-or-treaters and you may see some our staff ‘in-costume’.”

While Salon 416 spends their Halloween working in costume, Crust will be passing out candy to the community.

“We have participated since it has existed,” Owner of Crust Mark Hamel said. “I like it because it gets a lot of people in your door. Maybe some that have never come in our restaurant or bakery before. Plus it is kind of fun to see all the little guys dressed up for the holiday.”

Sponsored by Sawyer Jewelers and Genisys Credit Union, an event So Good It’s Scary will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Halloween. Various booths and activities will also be at the Fenton Methodist Church.
