School-wide mock election held Nov. 7

With the Presidential Election approaching on Nov. 8, social studies teacher Patricia Gray is conducting a school-wide mock presidential election.

This is not the first time that a school-wide mock election has taken place. In 2008 there was also a mock election.

“President Obama won the mock election back in 2008,” Gray said. “Someone suggested doing it again this year, and we thought it would be fun.”

Each SRT has been assigned a state, or two smaller states, to model the electoral college system. Each SRT has also been asked to create a poster about their state. Senior Keegan Pombier helped create his SRT’s poster, filled with facts and laws from the state of Colorado.

“We tried our best to accurately represent Colorado,” Pombier said. “We included a photo of former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning in the middle.”

Students will be asked to vote during SRT on Nov. 7.
