Fenton varsity football was eliminated from the MHSAA State Tournament due to a loss to Walled Lake Western in the Regional Final game on Saturday Nov 12. Although the team suffered 61-21 defeat, members of the team were still pleased with their seasons outcome.

“During my senior year, I built some really incredible relationships with everybody,” senior Zach West said. “I’m really emotional right now but I’m so happy with the season. We were able to capture our third district title in school history. To do it with all of my best friends was such an honor.”

The majority of the seniors on the team showed their emotions after the game, some hugging teammates and others shedding tears.

“This season meant the world to me,” senior Dylan Crankshaw said. “I’m here with a great group of people, I call them my family.”

While many of the teammates giving hugs on the field were seniors, junior Josh Czarnota played varsity football last year, and spent much of his time creating bonds with the seniors on the team.

“It was a great group of guys, we just came together as a team really well,” Czarnota said. “The scoreboard, by no means, showed what our heart was.”

The varsity football team, although emotional, remained optimistic about their season.
