"I've been playing hockey for about 11 years," sophomore Nick Temple (44) said. "My dad introduced me to it, and I wanted to be like my brother so I started skating. My favorite part is the high-pressure points in the game and having fun. It was a little nerve wracking to be one of two freshmen on the varsity team this year, but I got comfortable over the course of the season."

“When it comes to fashion, there will be days that I try and there will be days that I don’t. Like on cozy days, I will wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants. On days that I do try I’m just having fun and seeing what my style is. I would describe my style as crazy cute but not over the top. It makes me more confident in myself. It has helped me with presentations in Spanish because when I wear clothes that are on par with today’s culture I feel like people aren’t judging me. There are a lot of people who can’t afford clothes that are on trend with today’s fashion and sometimes that makes people look at them differently. Overall, just don’t worry about what other people say or think about you; just be yourself.”

“Most people who know me would probably say I’m weird and crazy, which is true about 99 percent of the time,” junior Carson Borg said. “People probably feel that way because I love to have fun and make jokes even if no one gets them, mostly I love making other people laugh. I play soccer and I’m usually very loud and energetic when I’m there. If you asked the girls on my team, most of them would definitely agree with that.”

“I recently got my first job at Mega Coney Island as a waitress. It was really hard at first, but I’m extremely proud of myself for sticking with it and learning instead of just giving up. It was hard to memorize the menu in a short amount of time, and also talking to strangers was out of my comfort zone. But I think any job is hard and stressful when you first start, so I would say I’m most proud of myself for committing to it because It helped my communication skills and it’s taught me a lot about responsibility."

“If I could give my younger self advice, I would tell him to not be afraid to try new things. You could try something and love it and make it your passion. Don’t be afraid to fail because you learn from every experience and grow as a person. I was always scared to try new sports because I didn’t want to get laughed at for not being as good as everyone else. Now as I have grown up, I regret not joining different teams or clubs because that could have been an amazing experience in my life.”

Almost every day we go out in the shop and either work on our own cars, or other peoples cars. Every day can be different from another, while still staying consistent with the in-class work we do."

"I’m going plastic free this summer, which means for shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and toothpaste and other things like that I’m avoiding using plastic. The main reason I’m choosing to do this is because I’m worried about our oceans. I know just one person can't make that big of an impact but it needs to start somewhere. I’m starting with me and hopefully I can influence others to follow suite in order to reduce our plastic uses and clean up our seas. I’m taking initiative to help where I can to help our Earth. "
