Timeless Music

Timeless. Enduring. Classic. Immortal. Lasting. Everyone can find something to match these words to, whether it’s a classic movie like “Casablanca,” a renowned piece of artwork such as the Mona Lisa, or a time-honored book such as “To Kill a Mockingbird.” But nothing is more ageless than music.

A catchy beat, meaningful lyrics, and an unforgettable sound all help to create something unyielding to the passage of time.

“Timeless” is a comparative term, though. A timeless song to the world because of votes and statistics can be very different to a sentimental song, timeless for the person who heard it.

If you Google search “Top 10 Timeless Songs”, you come up with 3,350,000 results. 3,350,000 different lists for different people with different tastes and,  therefore, different Top 10s. My Top 10 includes: Homeboy (Eric Church), Highway Don’t Care (Tim McGraw ft. Taylor Swift and Keith Urban), Demons (Imagine Dragons), Angry Young Man (Billy Joel), Fulsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash), The Scientist (Coldplay),Turning Page (Sleeping at Last), This is War (30 Seconds to Mars), To the Sky (Owl City) and All I Want (Kodeline).

My list is different from other Fenton students. For example, junior Amanda Schott’s list consists of: Wasting All These Tears On You (Cassadee Pope), Gas Pedal (Sage the Gemini), Hopeless, Lights Out, and Give Me a Sign (Breaking Benjamin), Bring It Back (Travis Porter), Hope (We Came As Romans), Somebody That I Used to Know (Pentatonix), Breaking Inside (Shinedown) and Reprobate Romance (Blacklisted Me).

Another Fenton Top 10 comes from junior Mark Vulliemont. His list contains the songs: Master of Puppets (Metallica), Enter Sandman (Metallica), For Those About to Rock (ACDC), Peace Cells (Mega Death), Hell’s Bells (ACDC), Symphony of Destruction (Mega Death), The Unforgiven (Metallica), Blackened (Metallica), Search and Destroy (Metallica), and No Remorse (Metallica).

See? Alot different from mine. So, to find a truly timeless song that is unanimously classic amongst the world is close to impossible. We are all different and we all have different opinions about what is everlasting.
