While microaggressions may seem like ‘no big deal’, they can lead to actions that get progressively more harmful. Before speaking, it is important that we take a closer look at the words and phrases that are used, and think about the hidden message we are relaying to others regarding their race, sexuality, religion, gender, or status level. Regardless of the intent, our words can hurt others in ways that we might not understand.
