Junior Noah Sheil (7) has been in the spotlight this season after he took over the starting quarterback position for Fenton High’s varsity football team. Fenton has started off the season hot thanks in part to Noah, with wins over many high ranking teams. Fenton is now the top ranked team in the Flint area, with eyes set on Ford field.
Noah and Fenton’s team has high hopes this year, “I think our main goal is to win Metros this year,” Sheil said, “but ultimately make it to the playoffs at Ford Field.”
Noah doesn’t take all the credit for the great start to the season though, he attributes the success to his teammates as well, “It’s an all-around effort this season, everyone keeps each other accountable.”
Noah refined his skills last summer in a 7v7 league in Brighton. “We’ve been getting better all summer,” Noah said. “In our Brighton league we would barely win games but now I feel like we can play with anyone.”
Noah isn’t afraid of a challenge nor the pressure, “I don’t really get nervous—every game I play I have trust for receivers and have full confidence in myself to go out there and make the right play.”
Noah isn’t the only Sheil on our winning team; his twin Rory Sheil has been a big part of Noah’s success, “He’s my go to guy. We’ve been playing together since birth so I can tell his reads more than my other receivers,” Noah said about his brother. “He also keeps me in check and accountable.”
Noah is only a Junior this year but has plans to pursue football into college, “that’s the goal,” Sheil said. Noah’s top schools right now are Grand Valley, Arizona State and Arkansas.
Noah’s dominant presence at quarterback doesn’t appear to be ending soon as the Tiger’s are now 4-0 and play at home on Friday Sept. 27 against the Kearsley Hornets for Fenton’s homecoming.
