In years past, Fenton High School has had the prom date be towards late April and early May; however, there are potential upsides to having an earlier prom.
The cold weather can inspire people to make warmer outfits. Usually, the weather is warming up around the time prom comes around, and having colder weather allows for different outfits someone may not see during warmer proms.
Having the prom placed earlier gives prom the light it deserves as it could relieve the feeling of everything being crammed in at the end of the year. Likely being placed between spring break and the end of April, spreads out the pressure from everything back-to-back.
According to couturecandy.com, some southern states hold earlier proms to avoid conflicting with spring sports and graduation ceremonies. If FHS were to follow that trend, FHS would be able to give the sports and ceremonies their own lights without taking away from the events.
At the end of the year, there’s a lot of focus that people give to studying. Prom can get in the way of that focus; by having it away from end of year tests, it allows students to give focus to tests and any other events that would be happening later.
Press-citizen.com compliments this in an article regarding tests before/after breaks. Having a break and having early prom can be alike as they both allow students to be stress-free and happy before it comes time to study for tests.
With an early prom, it can inspire outfits and let people experience prom stress-free and allows for more studying time.
