Starbucks recently took 16 items off their menu including some fan favorites. This was an effort to simplify their menu, keep wait times low and have better consistency. The removal took effect on March 4 and is a part of the company’s goal of reducing their menu by around 30% by this fall.
They removed many drinks including the Iced Macha lemonade, White Hot Chocolate, almost all their frappuccinos and a few others.
The decision to simplify the menu was seen as a strategic move to address issues involving their customer service and performance. The change also had a large effect on the Starbucks workers.
“The new changes make it very difficult to ring up orders,” Owen Rd. Starbucks employee Amber (last name not provided) said. “We have to make it regardless, we just have to ring it up in a very difficult way.”
“By simplifying our menu,” Starbucks posted in an update to their website on Jan. 29. “We’re helping to create a more intentional, thoughtful experience for our customers — one where every drink is handcrafted with precision and care.”
The company also announced plans of investing in other technologies and more streamline processes. This is to try to minimise the amount of time it takes to make drinks and reduce the amount of errors made.
Starbucks is simplifying its menu and operations in an effort to revive sales and improve profits.
Overall, these moves may help the company streamline their processes but have left some employees and customers longing for the old menu.
