Fenton Streetscape Update

The $5 million dollar Streetscape project in Downtown Fenton is coming to a completion. With streets being closed, traffic back ups on detoured streets are causing extended travel times and increased noise pollution.

“The flow of traffic has increased in my neighborhood,” Fenton citizen Kevin Dotson said. “What usually is a quiet neighborhood is now a noisy high traffic area. We are excited for the nearing completion of this project.”

The closing of Leroy Street has stopped direct access through Downtown Fenton. Detours such as East Caroline Street will soon no longer be in place as the project completion arrives.

“The construction is inconvenient right now,” sophomore Alexis Jackson said. “But, I think it will be worth it once it’s completed.”

The construction plans include, newly paved roads from Silver Lake Road to Shiawassee Avenue adding all new sidewalks and parking spaces to make accessing the downtown businesses more convenient.

The project is scheduled to be completed by November of this year.
