“I like being a teacher a lot. It’s always a pleasure to see everyone grow throughout the year. My students have not just grown physically but also have grown mature-wise, I like being able to see everyone just grow into better people throughout the year. I believe that I will still continue to be a teacher, the only thing I can foresee myself doing differently is being in some sort of administrative role, but I also see myself staying in physical science or physics and continuing to build that program. I really want to see people succeed in their sciences because a lot of people think science is really hard, but I think from an outside perspective, science is also fun, and it is something you can enjoy and something that’s not just learning the content, its a process of being able to think.” - Physical science teacher Nicholaus Jeffrey

“Boxing has helped make me the person I am today more than anything else. I started boxing in middle school to learn how to defend myself and become more confident in myself. Eventually I went to an actual boxing gym and it was all uphill from there. I got my first fight and just slowly fell more and more in love with the sport. I’ve learned a lot through boxing, the big thing was learning to be able to push myself to new levels as an athlete and a person. I know now I can do a lot as an athlete and not sell myself short anymore.” -senior Austin Firby

Volleyball is my favorite sport. I have been playing volleyball since fifth grade. I have played volleyball at three clubs, Chaos for four years, Five-1 for one year and I plan on playing at Arsenal this year. I would really like to go to college for volleyball but Im not sure which college. My favorite volleyball memory is when my team and i were playing in Pittsburgh and we got fifth place out of a lot of teams. “Jane Goodall is my biggest inspiration. She is a famous primatologist. I idolize her because I also want to be a primatologist. In the 1960’s when she was in her early twenties, she explored the Congo as a young woman to study chimps, she was one of the first women to do that.
