Ambassadors prepare for their Back By Popular Demand concert

After a successful Sneak Preview, the Ambassadors are busy getting ready for their Back By Popular Demand concert, It’s Been a Long, Long Time. The sneak preview on Nov. 20 showcased 11 of the 21 songs the Ambassadors sing at their concerts and will be performing the rest of the music at their upcoming Back By Popular Demand concert.

“Back by Popular Demand is always a great show because it’s so different from our Sneak Preview,” senior Addie Wright said. “We’ve all grown so much and I can’t wait to put everything we’ve learned on stage.”

The process of getting ready for an Ambassador concert isn’t as easy as some may think. Along with the 11 songs they got for the sneak preview, the Ambassadors added 10 more songs.

“The process is pretty intense,” vocal music teacher Brad Wright said. “We’ve been working on new music, as well as polishing music we got back in the fall. Along with adding new music, we are also adding uniforms and choreography to the show.”

While the Ambassadors have to prepare dances and songs, there are other behind-the-scenes jobs they have to accomplish.

“The hardest part of getting ready for a concert is the logistics,” Brad Wright said. “Ordering uniforms, programs and tickets, the sound system, lighting and rehearsing the band. Fortunately, I have a lot of help from Ambassador parents.”

Besides the performing portion of the show, being in Ambassadors gives the members friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

“I would say getting ready and doing makeup with the other girls is my favorite part,” junior Davenie Blackwell said. “Being in Ambassadors there is a strong bond. I definitely have strong relationships with certain people in the group, but everyone’s like a big family. Being in the group has made me feel like in everything I do I always have someone to talk to and keep me company. I never feel alone.”

The Back by Popular Demand concert is on Feb. 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the door or $5 in advance. You can purchase tickets in advance from any Ambassador as well as Mr. Wright.
