After competing in their divisional meet on Feb. 14, the Fenton-Linden-Lake Fenton ski teams (LFLF) received first place for the girls race and second place for the boys race, qualifying both varsity teams for the Southeastern Michigan Ski League Championships (SEMSLS). On Feb. 19, the boys and girls varsity teams traveled to Pine Knob to compete in SEMSLS taking eighth (girls) and 10th (boys) places.

“The team did really well and gave it our all and supported each other the entire time which was really great,” junior Emma Hiscock said.

Receiving individual awards for LFLF was Hiscock who came in 16th place in the Giant Slalom (GS) races with a combined time of 38.60 seconds for her two runs.

“I think I did ok,” freshman Gavin Thomas said. “They weren’t my best GS runs, but just being at SEMSLs was a great opportunity.”

For most of the seniors on the team, SEMSLS was the last race of their high school career.

“It was really sad because this was my last race,” senior Ethan Gibson said. “I was thinking to myself how I’m probably not going to see or talk to many of my teammates again after this season once I go off to college, so it was very sad.”

Next, the girls varsity ski team is to compete at the state meet on Feb. 25 at Schuss Mountain. The boys season was brought to an end after the Regionals race where the boys took sixth place.
