“My new puppy’s name is Hugo. We adopted him as a rescue, from Adopt-a-Pet in Fenton, so we don’t know his exact breed. But I love taking him on walks through my yard. He’s very skittish so he runs in between my legs the whole time. I love that Hugo loves to be near myself and my family. Whenever we’re sitting down he sits right next to us. Hugo is adapting to his new environment so well. We’ve only had him for a couple of days and the shelter told us he probably wouldn’t adapt well, but he’s super loving.” - senior Avery Logan

“We are each other's cheerleaders, we cheer each other on in every situation. Even if one of us is achieving more than the other. For example, freshman year when I was in the top five runners for cross country, Chloe cheered me on even though it was hurting her. Then junior year when I was injured and Chloe worked hard to become one of the top seven runners, I was super proud of her. We’ve played sports together, we have been a part of each other’s life each and every day and I wouldn’t change it for the world.” - junior Coral Lefever

“I moved to China in January of 2018 becuase my dad was offered a job there. It was quite a bit different. We didn’t have a car, we had a driver for my dad's work and other than that we would take our bikes everywhere. I learned how to navigate my way through a chinese subway and I also had a little moped that I would take to school. The culture shock was rough though. Here a lot of times you will smile at strangers or compliment them but in China it didn’t happen as often, people didn’t seem to be as social or friendly. Also the driving there was crazy cuz apparently the drivers have right of way over the pedestrians. I liked it for the most part, I met great people but the school was very competitive and I had a hard time keeping up” - sophomore Audrey MacLean

“Playing music helps me relax. I’ve been trying to improve my sound and general musical ability by playing for 20-30 minutes a day. Music is more complex than a lot of my other hobbies. I feel like to some extent it has made me more determined to keep at my other hobbies as well as it has made me understand that failure isn’t bad, but normal. “Honestly, it’s [quarantine] been a change in everyone’s daily life. Personally, I was affected by my school changing to all online classes. That’s a huge change especially when you’re a freshman, like me. But not only is school affected for the students, their parents might not be working as much, or at all because of the coronavirus. “Next year I have decided to go to Western Michigan University. WMU has always been my top choice ever since I first walked the campus. My aunt and uncle both went there so visiting them at school sparked my interest. I want to work with children that have disorders so I believe Speech Pathology is a major that fits me best. “I would like to go to college to major in Finance or Economics, either at MSU [Michigan State University] or University of Michigan. I’ve found that I have a strong passion for both subjects. I love researching economic systems, and do lots of reading of them in my free time. I’ve started the Economics Club at my school, and was about to have my first meeting for Model United Nations (but the school closure prevented it). From what I’ve heard, I feel that both of these majors will be exciting and will allow me to study my passions at a greater level.” - junior Joe Henley

I then took my hunters safety course so then I was able to hunt by myself. Hunting has taught me to be patient. It requires patience because you don't always see a deer every time you go out so you have to be patient to be able to sit in a tree stand or a ground blind for 12 hours." - senior Will Smith
