On Nov. 6, Fenton High will hold a career and college fair for juniors in the Auxiliary Gym. This is the first annual “Future Ready: Three District Career & College Fair.” The event is co-hosted with Linden and Lake Fenton schools.
During this time, students will have the opportunity to visit booths pertaining to many different career opportunities available to them after high school. This event allows students to ask questions of experts in their own field, like industry professionals, military recruiters, college representatives and many more. With approximately 60 booths with a wide variety of options, the hope is that every student will have an interest that is represented in the fair.
In attendance, there will be multiple departments from the University of Michigan-Flint and Mott Community College, ready to answer any pending student questions. There will be various engineering and technology companies as well as trade unions available for consultation. Local businesses and companies will be offering job opportunities and taking resumes too.
The career and college fair is an opportunity for students to see the abundance of options accessible to them after high school and arrange to try out all sorts of paths before graduation.
“You have experiences in high school to help you make decisions, educated decisions, beyond high school,” Coordinator of Career and College Readiness Programs Lindsay Grady said.
Before attending the fair, students need to log into their Xello account through Clever, look at conversation starters posted on their Xello profile and choose one of the five suggested tasks to help move through the fair. Having conversation starters prepared will aid a student in beginning meaningful, productive conversations with the individuals working in the booths. These Xello tasks are due Nov. 14.
For more information regarding the fair, including session assignments and times, students should see the email sent by Grady on Nov. 4.
