“Probably the most important advice I ever received was that it’s okay to not be able to do everything. Too many people push themselves to make sure they can do everything but realize they don’t enjoy a single thing anymore so please just remember it’s okay to fail a little and experiment. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed so it's time to start living a little bit; not stupidly but rather enjoying the people around while they’re still there, telling people the truth, and moving forward rather than falling back into bad situations.”

“I want to be able to focus a lot on friendships and connections with people. I want be able to take a spontaneous road trip and travel the world, do things outside of my comfort zone and push myself to do fun and amazing things. I would go outside of the country to Australia or Italy and to see and explore those places and learn about culture hands on. I don’t want to talk about it in a class. I want to experience it for myself. Those countries, especially, I have seen pictures or heard about so much, but I want to go see it myself. To get there, it will take a lot of work. I think that’s where a lot of the stress on careers and college comes from, because in order to travel or have fun, it costs money. In order to get money, you have to have a plan and get a job. Unfortunately, we also have the stress where most people think we have to go to college first and pay off all our debts. At that point, people think it is ‘too late’ because we have to settle down and find a full time career. However, I believe you can do both. I feel that you should not have to stress because no matter if it is something fun like traveling or stressful like college, it is never ‘too late’ to do those amazing things.”

“Throughout my time here at Fenton and before then, I always looked forward and wanted to take every opportunity that could be afforded to me. I have dreams of playing college baseball and so many others, so whatever I thought provided a route, I took. Concerning weights and all the benefits it offers: I credit most, if not all, of my successes and opportunities from the work I put in through it. The benefits of it have improved every aspect of my life, from my personality and mindset, to my physical ability & aesthetic. I have stuck with it for years because there is no negative to it. The weight room will give to you what you give to it. However, there have been times where I could not always get into FHS’s weight room. Without a job, it has been hard to find a good gym that keeps the costs down, so much of my work was calisthenics related to. Nonetheless, I put in great work and also managed to find body awareness and be able to maneuver greatly with this type of work. Having no access to a weight room should not deter one from working. A quote from Socrates, one of the greatest philosophers known, ‘no citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. What a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever the strength and beauty of which his body is capable,’ has helped me to begin and stay with it. It has set me apart from my peers, I believe. It has taught me gumption, and given me a desire to win and be the best at what I do. There is much more I can say, but the feeling of working and knowing that you are doing well for yourself is the greatest feeling. I believe my story is just one of the many from people who work for everything. The journey is more than the reward.”
