“I would like to go to college to major in Finance or Economics, either at MSU [Michigan State University] or University of Michigan. I’ve found that I have a strong passion for both subjects. I love researching economic systems, and do lots of reading of them in my free time. I’ve started the Economics Club at my school, and was about to have my first meeting for Model United Nations (but the school closure prevented it). From what I’ve heard, I feel that both of these majors will be exciting and will allow me to study my passions at a greater level.” - junior Joe Henley

“I would say my heroes are my friends. They have the ability to make me laugh and smile. I think because we are going through the same things, senior year, family stuff, and big changes coming, we’ve been able to understand and sympathize with one another, bringing us all even closer. I can go to them for something serious, but we can always laugh together, too. What really makes them my heroes is their ability to motivate me, comfort me and laugh with me.” - senior Sarah Lowell

“Before taking the Desktop Publishing and Advanced Journalism offered at FHS I had never had exposure or hands on experience with a camera or Photoshop. I was always so interested but never had an opportunity to get hands on and in depth experience I was looking for. By taking these classes throughout my high school career, I was able to experiment and express my creative side while also getting credits to graduate with. Still, even two years after graduating I am practicing and utilizing what I learned in these classes for my own on the side business, shooting professional, senior photography and videography. I believe if I hadn’t experienced these classes, I wouldn’t be doing what I love to do today.” - graduate Jacob Angelovski

The best gift I’ve ever given was to my friend Lydia. It was a box that I had wrapped and on the inside it were index cards with happy birthday messages or inside jokes from all the people who were close to her from our specific group of friends, to ones from her volleyball team and many more. I will never forget her reaction going through all of the notes from the people she loved wishing her a personal happy birthday. -senior Anna Avendt (left)

“I would rather work my dream job than win the lottery. My dream job would involve spending my days helping others in a way that is fun and exciting. If I were to just win the lottery, I feel like I would start to get lazy without a structure to my day because I wouldn’t work. Sometimes in the summer, I find myself looking forward to school just for the sake of a regular schedule. I would much rather be doing something that I love and enjoy everyday. Also, my real dream job would probably involve making a ton of money anyway.”

Ive been playing hockey for about 11 years, sophomore Nick Temple (44) said. My dad introduced me to it, and I wanted to be like my brother so I started skating. My favorite part is the high-pressure points in the game and having fun. It was a little nerve wracking to be one of two freshmen on the varsity team this year, but I got comfortable over the course of the season.

If I could give one piece of advice to my younger self I would tell myself to be more open-minded and less stubborn. Life is considerably more enjoyable when you have the ability to see things from other people’s perspectives and keeping an open mind tends to keep me out of trouble.

If I could have one superpower, it would be teleportation, because I love to travel. The first place I would go is Egypt. I like the pyramids, I’m interested in the structure and how they were built.

I I play three sports a year. I dont have a lot of free time, but its worth it. Its tough, but it forces me to keep my grades up. The coaches make me more focused and responsible. My best friend is on all three teams with me, and I hang out with friends after games. Its a blast.

I am very passionate about theater, I love singing and performing and things like that. Around the third grade we had to do this Make my Michigan play. I was probably a pain to my teachers because I was so excited about it. I am in a community theater up in waterford. I actually have a performance coming up called Shrek: The Musical Jr. and I play Fiona.
